Meryl Streep Honored With the 14th Annual Monte Cristo Award (PHOTOS)

Everyone already knows that Meryl Streep is one of the greatest actresses to ever grace the big screen, but yesterday (April 21), she was presented with the Monte Cristo Award at the Edison Ballroom in New York City.

“I’m glad to see some old friends and celebrate this wonderful theater — it’s a home for new playwrights, writers, musicians, it’s a rare sort of conservatory for new talent and ideas,” Meryl said of the Eugene O’Neill Theater, the place she first worked as an actress after graduating from the Yale School of Drama.

Taking the stage to accept her award, Meryl joked, “I feel like I’m at the funeral, so I’m really happy! You usually don’t get to be there.” The distinguished actress poked fun at her alma maters — Yale and Vassar — but she praised her Yale profs who were there.

Also in attendance was Michael Douglas and wife Catherine Zeta-Jones, as Michael was awarded the honor last year and was in attendance to help celebrate Meryl’s big night. The two Hollywood legends took time to pose together multiple times, giving us some epic all-star snapshots.
