Michael Jackson died six years ago today, and we’ve yet to see anyone worthy of the King of Pop crown.

The pop star, whose Thriller album remains the best-selling album of all time, would be 56 these days, had he not tragically died in 2009 of cardiac arrest brought on by acute propofol and benzodiazepine intoxication.

Even though Michael has a murky legacy — with the accusations of child sexual abuse — there’s no denying that his music was revolutionary.

And in that spirit, we’re presenting our favorite celebrity tributes to M.J.’s greatest hits.

Janet Jackson’s “Scream” Duet With Her Brother

At the 2009 VMAs, Michael’s sister Janet wowed the crowd and the millions of viewers watching at home by performing her choreography for their 1995 music video “Scream.”

Pentatonix’s “Evolution of Michael Jackson”

Just three days ago, Platinum-selling a capella group Pentatonix released a mashup of 25 of Michael’s biggest hits, tracking his career from 1969 to 1995.

“Love Never Felt So Good”

In May 2014, Epic released Xcape, Michael’s second posthumous album, with the track “Love Never Felt So Good,” a song he co-wrote and recorded with Paul Anka in 1983 but never released. A Timbaland-produced version featured Justin Timberlake singing in duet with MJ, and peaked at #9 on Billboard’s Top 100, making the song Michael’s first Top 10 hit in over a decade.

Usher’s “Love Never Felt So Good”

As one of the only guys whose dance moves could possibly rivals MJ’s, Usher showed off impressive choreography (and flashy fashion) at the 2014 iHeartRadio Music Awards.

Beyoncé’s “I Wanna Be Where You Are”

Beyoncé, who’s been called the Princess of Pop, performed the King’s hit “I Wanna Be Where You Are” in a taped segment for the 2011 tribute concert Michael Forever  — in a performance introduced by none other than Michael’s kids, Prince, Paris, and Blanket.

“Earth Song” at the 2010 Grammys

Get your 3D glasses ready! Celine Dion, Usher, Carrie Underwood, Jennifer Hudson, and Smokey Robinson sang “Earth Song” in a special 3D segment of the 2010 Grammy Awards.

Chris Brown’s BET Awards Medley

Chris Brown paid tribute to Michael at the 2010 BET Awards, dancing to “The Way You Make Me Feel,” “Remember the TIme,” “Smooth Criminal,” and “Billie Jean” — and breaking down in tears in an emotional version of “The Man in the Mirror.”
