Michael Rooker Endorses YEAH! App in Funny Anti-Social Holiday Commercial (VIDEO)

Long live Merle Dixon!

Michael Rooker's character may have died in The Walking Dead Season 3, but he lives on in fan appearances and ads like this one for the YEAH! iPad movie app.

"Hey, Michael Rooker here from The Walking Dead," he says in the "Anti-Social Holiday" commercial, after rushing inside a house. "Outside that door? Mankind's worst nightmare. Not flesh-eating zombies. In-laws." (Poor in-laws, stepmothers and redheaded stepchildren always get a bad name.)

Rooker says that's why he's holed up in the house with his YEAH! app, which "takes the movies you love and loads them up with facts, secrets, things you never knew about your favorite films. It's a lot safer than spending time with your family." Cue an arm through the door. Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus) is offended, man!

AMC first released YEAH! back in March, but the new iPad app was made available on December 20, which is also the day this "Anti-Social Holiday" TV and web campaign launched. (Watch Rooker's ad below.)

The app campaign culminates in the New Year's Eve and New Year's Day marathon of The Walking Dead, sponsored by YEAH!, from December 31 to January 2 on AMC.

According to The Verge, YEAH!'s enhanced movies cost $4.99 per 48 hour rental, while the ones without bonus features start at $1.99. As they note, "The new iPad app is available for free right now. Movies available through the service include No Country for Old Men, Dirty Dancing, Superman: The Movie, The Shining, Scream, The Expendables, and Reservoir Dogs. At the time of writing, the most popular rental is Chevy Chase's Caddyshack."

Head to the iTunes store for more intel. And watch the commercial below. It's just good to see Merle again!
