Miguel Pleads No Contest to DUI (UPDATE)

Update (February 21, 2014):

Miguel has pleaded no contest to the two counts of drunk driving he received last year. In a refreshing chance of pace for Hollywood, he tells TMZ, “Driving with alcohol in my system was reckless. I’m really sorry and I’m taking responsibility for this mistake.”

Taking responsibility will include three years informal probation, a $360 fine, and completing an alcohol education class.

Update (September 4, 2013):

TMZ reports that Miguel has been charged with two counts of drunk driving.

Original story (August 15, 2013): Well this isn’t exactly “#beautiful.” TMZ reports that singer Miguel was arrested in Los Angeles early this morning for driving drunk.

Sources tell the site that the California Highway Patrol pulled Miguel over around 2:15 a.m. PT for speeding and having tinted windows in his 2013 BMW X6.

The officers reportedly performed several sobriety tests, which the “Adorn” singer failed. Miguel’s breathalyzer tests put him at .10 and .11, which is over the legal limit of .08.

He was arrested for a DUI and sent to a nearby station where he was booked and later released on a $5,000 bail. He’s scheduled to appear in court in September.

This isn’t Miguel’s first brush with the law this year. At the May 2013 Billboard Music Awards, the singer fell on a fan, causing the victim “possible brain damage.” After the incident there were reports from TMZ that the fan might sue the singer, but no charges were filed.

Miguel’s rep has not yet made a comment on the singer’s DUI arrest.
