The Situation seems to be turning his life around. He looks healthy and he's even in a serious relationship with his college sweetheart. But it wasn't always smooth sailing for The Sitch. Now, he's opening up about his struggle with drug abuse in 2012.

The 31-year-old former Jersey Shore star went on Bethenny Frankel's talk show for the episode on January 13, where he told Bethenny how his addiction started during Season 2 of Jersey Shore.

"The end of Season 2 is when I started Dancing With the Stars. I hurt my neck and back during the show and just like millions of Americans out there, I went to a doctor. And the doctor prescribed me an opioid prescription painkiller for the pain. Once I got this prescription, like anybody else, you're like, 'Oh, I can take this.'"

Bethenny went on to ask him if he was taking more than the doctors were telling him to. The Sitch said no and that his body just became dependent on the medication.

In March 2012, The Situation went to the rehab clinic at the Cirque Lodge in Utah for a prescription medication problem. Mike was previously in rehab in Florida when he was 27.

We're happy to hear that The Situation is doing better and able to talk about his path to recovery. Check out the video below to hear more.
