Miles Teller in Talks to Play Dan Aykroyd in John Belushi Biopic

Miles Teller is solidifying his place as one of Hollywood's hottest new stars.

Director Steve Conrad and the producers behind an upcoming biopic of late comedian John Belushi have offered Miles the chance to portray actor Dan Aykroyd, John's close friend and colleague.

John was a beloved actor best known for his work on Saturday Night Live in the 1970s, which led to roles in films like Animal House and Blues Brothers. He died of a drug overdose in 1982 at the age of 33. (His younger brother Jim also found fame, particularly in the long-running sitcom According to Jim.)

Dan was John's co-star in SNL and Blues Brothers — and has since delighted audiences in films like Ghostbusters, Trading Places, and Driving Miss Daisy. He'll serve as an executive producer on the biographical film.

Emile Hirsch — last seen in Bonnie & Clyde on the small screen and Lone Survivor in theaters — joined the biopic in November in the lead role.

Meanwhile, Miles' dance card has been plenty full lately: He played Shailene Woodley's love interest in The Spectacular Now and will co-star as her brother in March's Divergent. And, of course, he's sharing the screen with Zac Efron and Michael B. Jordan in That Awkward Moment.

His rep tells Entertainment Weekly that he'll make a final decision on the Belushi film when he finished his press junket for That Awkward Moment.
