Miley Cyrus Sings “Wrecking Ball” With a Giant Cat at 2013 American Music Awards (VIDEO)

From controversial pop princess to cat meme queen, Miley Cyrus can do no wrong.

The 21-year-old proved her haters wrong when she delivered a strong — and emotional! — performance of her hit single, "Wrecking Ball," at the 2013 American Music Awards on November 24, 2013. Miley, clad only in a cat-printed spandex crop top and high-waisted briefs, kept things simple — no foam fingers or dancing teddy bears in sight. Of course, she added her signature quirky flare with a giant blinking cat, which was projected behind her on-screen. But it's clear that this performance was all about the vocals.

Miley's voice soared on the chorus, and by the time she got to the bridge, the singer was near-tears (her blinking cat, however, was in tears). In fact, Miley's performance was so captivating that Artist of the Year winner Taylor Swift was out of breath by the time she accepted the night's top prize.
