Miley Cyrus’s Team “Freaking” After Robin Thicke VMA Performance
It wasn’t suppose to be this way. When Robin Thicke picked Miley Cyrus to join him onstage to sing his hit single “Blurred Lines” during the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards, he figured he was getting a big name to help distract from the fact Pharrell Williams wasn't there. However, 20-year-old teddy bear enthusiast Miley was more than a small distraction with her nude-colored bikini and risqué dance moves.
“Robin thought it would be fun to include Miley, but he didn’t realize how much she would overshadow him. This was his big night and big performance,” a source told Us Magazine. “I don’t think we would have done it knowing what it ended up like.”
And yet, another source tells Us that Robin had a good idea of what to expect: “He had fun and was fine with how it came out. He knew what they were going to do and thought it was fun and awesome. He had a great time.”
Well, that makes at least three people on the planet — Robin, Miley, and whoever made those stuffed bears. One insider reports even Miley’s own team was surprised by the performance and are “freaking about” it seeing as the rehearsals were “really played down compared to the live performance.”
Meanwhile, another Us source says the exact opposite, insisting that the team is totally fine with what went down. “It’s the VMAs,” says the source. “Of course she’s going to do a standout performance! No one [from her team] was shocked by this.”
