Fact: Last year, Miley Cyrus earned more money than you did or probably ever will make. But before you go thinking that the twerktastic singer is totally driven by making dollars holler, she is the first to tell us otherwise.
In an interview with Harper’s Bazaar, Miley explained that even though she rakes in the dough like whoa, it doesn’t mean that much to her. “My parents always had money,” she says of pops Billy Ray and mom Tish, “and I’ve always been around this industry, so I didn’t have my mind blown or become obsessed with being famous.”
But unlike other young stars, Miley didn’t rise to the top slowly. Though she had a few smaller roles when she was younger, her Hannah Montana TV show launched in 2006 and brought her an insane amount of stardom during its five-year run.
Before moving to LA to work on the show, Miley lived on a 500-acre farm with her famous singer pop and family, and did whatever she wanted. And it seems not a lot has changed, since she’s proud of having taken over her image as a star these days.
"When I was growing up, I didn't even notice that I started making all this money,” the Bangerz singer says of the transition in her personal career. “There's something about new money that makes people change. But I never did not have [money]. So when I got it, I didn't become obsessed with having it."
See guys? All you have to do to stay grounded is to start off rich. Now why didn’t we think of that? #WWMCD
