It may seem like a distant memory, but 20-year-old pop star Miley Cyrus got her start in the entertainment biz not as a naked construction worker singer but as a full-fledged actress. As the title character of Disney’s Hannah Montana from 2006 to 2011, Miley got a chance to showcase her acting chops. Now that she’s risen to stratospheric heights with her fourth album ready to drop in less than a month, is Miley officially done with acting?
It kinda sounds like it, at least based on an interview Miley gave Harper’s Bazaar magazine. Granted, the Q&A probably happened months ago (note the reference to Miley’s recently ex-fiancé Liam Hemsworth, whom, coincidentally, she met while filming a movie). Still, what she has to say about her days on a sound stage might surprise you.
“I don’t really care to do anything acting-wise,” she told the magazine. “I want to make all of my music videos so epic that it feels like I’m still involved with acting.”
So far, Miley’s videos for her forthcoming album Bangerz have easily met her criteria of being “so epic.” Beside her now infamous bareback riding of a wrecking ball, there’s also been “We Can’t Stop,” featuring the same teddy bear-grinding, tongue-wagging, and, of course, top-notch twerking we witnessed during the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards. All that’s missing from making that video even more epic: Robin Thicke and about 150 FCC complaints.
What do you think? Is Miley officially done with acting or will the bug bit her again? Sound off in the comments below.
