Cher has taken to Twitter to address the controversy surrounding her recent USA Today interview, saying she's “a little ashamed” about what she said. The 67-year-old entertainer writes “I didn't keep my big Opinionated mouth Shut.WTF is MY PROBLEM !” before adding says Miley is “Fkng BRILLIANT..CAUSE...WE'RE STILL TALKING ABOUT IT.” True enough.
Need to break the ice with a new acquaintance? Bring up Miley Cyrus. Everyone — including us — has an opinion on the new side the 20-year-old singer clearly has no problem exposing recently. The latest celebrities chiming in? Fellow pop music divas Pink and Cher.
“Am I into it?” Pink quizzed E! News when asked what she made of Miley’s latest performances. “No, I think it’s tacky.”
Beyond that, though, Pink’s upset at the misplaced talent.
“She’s really freaking talented. She’s beautiful. She can sing her ass off and to go up there and do that?” the fellow platinum blonde said. “She’s cheating herself and she’s cheating the rest of us.”
Still, Pink added, “She can do what she wants. People can like it if they want. I’m not going to buy it. She can do better. I’ve seen her do better.”
Also not onboard the S.S. Twerk: Cher.
“I’m not old-fashioned,” Cher (unnecessarily) explained to USA Today. “She could have come out naked, and if she’d just rocked the house, I would have said, ‘You go, girl.’ It just wasn’t done well. She can’t dance, her body looked like hell, the song wasn’t great, one cheek was hanging out. And, chick, don’t stick out your tongue if it’s coated.”
Wise words from the entertainment icon, but will Miley listen? Perhaps though it’s likely she’ll respond seeing as the input of other A-listers — a very long list that includes Tim Gunn, Elton John, and Heidi Klum — has yet to be publically acknowledged. Don’t worry, Miley. We’re taking notes.
