If you're feeling overwhelmed by the Miley Cyrus fervor that has swept the nation ever since Twerkgate — i.e. her 2013 MTV Video Music Awards performance — you're not alone. Even Miley herself is surprised by the attention she's getting.

"Everything is so chaotic and crazy right now and it’s so much all at once, but I’m living for it," she tells Cosmopolitan in its December 2013 cover story. "I'm just having the best time ever and everything’s falling into place like it’s supposed. Even people who want to hate on me, they can’t even shut down the fact that I’m literally what everyone is talking about."

But even with all that publicity, she isn't about to pull a Charlie Sheen and declare herself as #winning.

"I don’t want to say that I’m on top right now," she muses. "I feel like I’m kind of an underdog in a cool way … It’s almost punk rock to like me because it’s not the right thing to do. Like, society wants to shut me down."

The 20-year-old chanteuse also opened up about the downfall of her engagement to actor Liam Hemsworth — check out her comments here.

We love the girl, but "Miley" and "underdog" are two words we wouldn't necessarily utter in the same breath.

What do you think? Is society — or specifically you — trying to keep the Party Queen down? Let us know below.
