Miley Cyrus fully expects consequences for her jaw-dropping, eyebrow-raising performance with Robin Thicke at this year’s MTV Video Music Awards. She’s already gotten heat from certain viewers (the FCC received more than 150 twerking-inspired complaints!) and even from the creator of the foam finger. But could Miley’s provocative spin on the already provocative song “Blurred Lines” really keep her from performing at the 2014 VMAs?
She seems to think so. “I doubt they’re ever gonna ask me back,” Miley says during an interview backstage at the Power 96.1 Jingle Ball before adding, “But just kidding... I don’t know.”
Whether or not she ever takes the stage again, with or without Mr. Thicke, Miley says that moment was her standout for 2013. “Everyone else’s, I think, biggest moment of me was the VMAs,” she says. “That was probably my biggest moment, too. I was pretty stoked to perform there.”
That particular number was “the beginning of showing people what I was starting to do” and it “opened, like, so many doors for me.” The most recent door: helping countdown the new year alongside Ryan Seacrest at the latter’s Rockin' New Year’s Eve. Cue the memes of Miley riding the New Year’s Eve Times Square ball.
