Ready for the next chapter in the Book of Miley Cyrus? You’re in luck because the One Who Twerks is gearing up to release the next single from her album, Bangerz. The number? “Adore You,” a slowed down jam that’s a far cry from the nonstop party anthem that is “Can’t Stop” or “Wrecking Ball” and its full throttle cry of romance gone wrong.

The song’s lyrics highlight a softer side of the increasingly hard-edged Miley. “Baby, can you hear me? / When I’m crying out for you / I’m scared oh, so scared / But when you’re near me,” she sings to a mellow track. The chorus strikes a similarly sweet note: “When you say you love me / No, I love you more / And when you say you need me / No, I need you more / Boy, I adore you, I adore you.”

Of course, Miley’s ex-fiancé, Liam Hemsworth, comes to mind as she croons about a boy she adored. Miley recently talked about her young love, telling journalist Barbara Walters she “was so scared of ever being alone” and doesn’t “ever want to have to need someone again, where you feel like, without them, you can’t be yourself.”

Dealing with her newfound singleness has been “actually bigger than any other transition that I had this entire year” Miley explains. That’s saying something, too, seeing as Miley’s 2013 has been one banger of a year. And she’s sending it out in style by performing on Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve thanks to an invite from Ryan Seacrest himself.

Miley didn’t give us a date on when “Adore You” and its video will debut, just tweeting on December 18 that both would be “coming soon” so perhaps it’ll be her first song in the new year. We’d — wait for it — adore that.
