First, Miley Cyrus went unplugged, and now, she’s going uncensored. MTV has finally released Miley’s Arctic Monkeys cover of “Why’d You Only Call Me When You're High?” — which she performed for her MTV Unplugged session — and it’s uncut and uncensored.
Miley’s husky vocals perfectly compliments the aggressive Brit rock song, which peaked at No. 8 on the UK Singles Chart, and she’s got enough swagger to sell the song. Plus, those notes she hits at the bridge are impressive. Every once in a while it’s nice to be reminded that the 21-year-old can actually sang. Not to mention Miley sings the song like she’s knows what she’s singing about. Seeing how she thinks “weed is the best drug on earth,” we’re thinking she can relate to Alex Turner’s lyrics about an all-night bender.
MTV has also released an uncut version of the Bangerz singer's MTV Unplugged session, which aired last week and featured Madonna as a special guest. Miley’s uncut Unplugged special was released on Thursday via MTV's digital and mobile platforms — a first for the network's acoustic performance series.
Below, check out the Arctic Monkey’s trippy music video for their hit Top 10 single. The track is featured on their fifth studio album AM. How does Miley's cover stack up to the original? Sound off in the comments!
