It can be easy to forget how talented an artist Miley Cyrus actually is. Between the tongue flicking and the rear end wagging, there’s a lot to take focus away from the star’s killer voice. As if to remind us that she is, in fact, a singer, the 21-year-old took a rare quiet moment during her Bangerz tour to cover an established pop music classic, “Hey Ya!” by OutKast.
In a video posted from Miley’s concert at the Tacoma Dome in Washington state, Miley lends a distinctive country twang to the 2003 hit by André 3000 and crew. She’s wearing a glittery shirt of her own face and a bedazzled baseball cap backwards. Swaying her hands, she gets the whole audience singing along and waving back as she croons the tune.
Miley’s “Hey Ya!” cover is just one of the many updates we’ve gotten about the former Disney star as she hits the road on her much-hyped tour. Just this weekend she was spotted giving fellow pop diva Katy Perry a big wet one on the lips. Earlier in the tour she donned a marijuana-decorated thong and gave a faux Bill Clinton a big wet one, um, not on the lips.
Those showstopping bits in mind, Miley’s “Hey Ya!” performance seems almost subdued, and, you know what, that’s “alright, alright, alright, alright…” You get the point.
What do you make of Miley’s performance? Love the cover or prefer the original? Tell us in the comments!
