Miley Cyrus was completely heartbroken when her angel baby Floyd died in early April. Her mom surprised her with a new dog, Moonie, shortly afterward, but Miley wasn't ready to embrace another pooch in her menagerie. The pain was still too fresh, so she gave Moonie away.

But now it's late June and Miley is ready to welcome new love — with the blessing of her adored Floyd — as part of "a new beginning" and "a change" in her life.

Miley shared the photo shown on June 28, introducing Emu:

"time to start making Emu accounts smilers. Hes here and here to stay. I welcomed Emu Coyne Cyrus into the family a couple days ago. Been keepin him a secret cause sometimes I'm weird like that. It's taken some time to be ready for this next step and loving again. There will never be anyone like Floyd. There was a bond that was so deep it's irreplaceable but that's not what I am trying to do. Never will I replace Floyd and that's something I had to take time to understand. we had a very special memorial service for Floyd and I felt my angel Floydy give Emu his blessing. I prayed to Floyd to just give him a touch of his awesomeness 🌈 and he has. He is so special and different than my baby Floyd and I think Floyd did that on purpose. But sometimes he does little things that remind me of him and it makes me smile 💖 I'm blissed the out right now ✌️ I feel like this is a new beginning in so many ways. I feel a change coming on."

Good for her for opening her home and heart to a new adorable puppy. She does love her canine buddies. But maybe her new beginning is about more than furry friends. Maybe she's also ready to find new human love, after things with fiancé Liam Hemsworth didn't quite work out.

Miley certainly hasn't forgotten Floyd, and after posting about Emu she shared another photo of the memorial to her lost love: "thank you to everyone for making my Floyd shrine so beautiful and special. The energy around the alter is so powerfully full of love. He is so loved and loves you all right back. Without you I would never have these beautiful Floyd stuffed animals that make me happy everyday cause I can hold him :) @waynecoyne5 @katyweaver these flowers remind me of his wittle soul 💖🌈🌻 love is everywhere and that means so is Floyd. #floydislove #floydsbubbas."

RIP, Floyd. And welcome to the fold, adorable Emu. Stay safe out there!
