It's always nice when Saturday Night Live skips the long-winded political cold opens and goes for something based around the host. On October 5, Miley Cyrus hosted SNL and the show started out of the gate with a spoof of how her MTV Video Music Awards performance destroyed America.
In a flashback from 2045 to 2013, we see "Old Miley" (played by Vanessa Bayer) try to warn the half-clad real Miley that her VMAs performance that night might be too controversial. (Old Miley also gives New Miley a giant American Girl doll named Molly, since she keeps singing about her...)
Taran Killam has a creepy-fun cameo as Robin Thicke, Jay Pharoah returns with another spot-on impression of Will Smith, and Bobby Moynihan steals the scene as a giant traumatized teddy bear who tells Miley "We shouldn't be doing this!"
Miley even explains why she keeps doing that thing with her tongue. "I'm having tiny strokes, yo!"
Watch and see. What do you think? Love it or lacking?
