Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth are nearing a very important anniversary: the one-year mark of the end of their engagement. But don’t take that milestone to mean the past is completely behind Miles. The latest track leaked off the former Disney star’s album Bangerz made the rounds in full this weekend and it’s pretty heavy on the post-breakup emotions.
Lyrics include “and I know you’re sick and tired of fighting / sick and tired of being sick and tired / but I know that you’re gonna want me / to come home for a last goodbye.” But it’s a last goodbye Miley goes on to say she’ll never say since “you let me down / I gave you up / I took you back / I gained something to blame you.”
Of course, “Last Goodbye” was likely recorded right in the midst of Miley’s split from her one-time hubby-to-be just like that other breakup anthem, “Wrecking Ball,” so we get all the feels. But lines like “and when you said that we were forever / I guess that’s just another lie” and “we’ve already been through this twice” have us wondering how messy the actual breakup was. And if it had happened before.
