People can't stop gawking at Miley Cyrus's formerly homeless VMAs date Jesse Helt, from endless speculation about whether he's actually "homeless" to wondering about Miley's real motivations for raising awareness for an important issue.
The latest report to roll in — and right past the organization Miley tried to raise awareness for, Los Angeles youth shelter My Friend's Place — comes from The Daily Star, which claims that Jesse is now living with her. This claim comes after a Daily Mail report that Miley bought him a plane ticket to his childhood home in Polk County, Oregon. Regardless, Polk County Jail confirms that he did, indeed, willingly return there, and has a mugshot to prove it.
The Star report continues, saying that this is all part of a PR makeover for Miley, and that she wanted to do more to help the formerly-homeless would-be model.
Amid all the speculation, we hope folks will remember that homelessness is a really complicated issue, as Miley herself noted on her personal Twitter. Although he has a living mother, nobody but Jesse knows why Jesse really left home. As for the trespassing and criminal mischief charges, he turned himself in willingly — and they're fairly common charges against people who have experienced homelessness.
Regardless of Miley's motivation or Jesse's past, homelessness remains a serious problem in the Los Angeles area, and My Friend's Place remains an organization that provides services to youth who don't have a roof over their heads.
