Mob Wives’s Alicia DiMichele’s Embezzlement Sentencing Is Today — What Is She Facing?

While Mob Wives: New Blood’s Alicia DiMichele put on a brave face last month while watching her husband, Eddie Garofalo, get seven years in prison for extortion, now it’s her turn to deal with her own charges in court. After many delayed court dates, the new addition to the hit VH1 reality show will undergo sentencing today (January 6) in Brooklyn Federal Court for crimes of embezzlement. So what exactly could the star be facing?

One thing’s for sure, she’s going to be hard-hit financially. Thanks to her $8K-per-episode earnings, she could be required to pay a $96K fine for the 12 episodes currently in her season’s contract. In other words, prosecutors don’t want to see Alicia making any money by playing up her criminal ties on television — a big part of Mob Wives’ allure.

“The defendant's decision to participate in and profit from a television show that glorifies organized crime and those who participate in it, and demonizes the government for prosecuting these individuals, including [Alicia], demonstrates that she fails to appreciate the seriousness of the charged crime and her life choices,” the prosecutors wrote. “To allow her to profit from such an endeavor...would be a manifest injustice. Accordingly she should not retain any of her earnings (from the show).”

Prosecutors also want her to pony up an additional $20K in restitution for the union funds she plead guilty to embezzling from the trucking company she co-owned with Eddie (a rumored mob enforcer).

Alicia’s defense lawyer, John Wallenstein, rejects the prosecutors’ claims that the reality star is benefiting from her mafia ties.

“Far from glorifying ‘mob life,’ Ms. DiMichele makes clear in the show that she is devastated by the position she finds herself in, and regrets what she has done,” he wrote in response.

As for jail time, the mother of three could also receive up to six months in prison, though she is currently seeking probation — which she likely will get. For the sake of Alicia’s young family, we hope she won’t be spending any time behind bars.
