The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Breaks Free in New Motion Poster (VIDEO)
It may be half a year away, but The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1 is already building buzz with the release of this new motion poster. Check it out below, and get ready to see it on mall kiosks, bus stops, etc.
The new animation begins exactly the same way as the one for Catching Firedid: It starts with the image of Katniss's mockingjay pin as pensive music comes in. The bird rouses to life, stretching out its wings as the circle around it develops spokes like Catching Fire's clock-based arena, and the music gets more urgent.
This new poster, however, continues the action beyond that point — showing the bird fully extending its wings and fanning the flames bursting around it, with the music reaching to a pulsing crescendo.
The film's title zooms into frame, along with the tagline: "Fire burns brighter in the darkness."
All of this symbology matches that on the original book covers for Suzanne Collins's trilogy — of which Mockingjay was arguably the darkest and most divisive.
In case you haven't cracked the spines of those tomes or you had simply forgotten, the mockingjay became the symbol of the rebellion against the Capital when Katniss wore the pin as she outsmarted the 74th Hunger Games.
Part 1 of the cinematic adaptation hits theaters on November 21 — with Part 2 finishing the tale a year later, on November 21, 2015. We're pumped!
