Model Lara Stone Says She Lost a Modeling Job Because She Was Pregnant

When model Lara Stone found out she was expecting her first child with husband David Walliams back in 2012, she faced an unexpected bump in her professional life. The Dutch supermodel says she lost a pretty big modeling gig all because she was pregnant!

Lara recently dished to the London Evening Standard that she found out she was expecting just as she was about to partake in a big-time modeling job. She immediately let the team know of her condition, only to soon after find out she was replaced by another model.

Although nothing was directly explained to Lara about the switch (because laws), Lara says she has a strong feeling it was because of her ever-expanding belly.

“I was really upset at the time,” the model says. “I hadn’t yet had my three-month scan and I felt really vulnerable about everything. I no longer had a job. That was it — I had to just stop everything that I knew, the way my life was.”

Despite losing her job, it was only a matter of months before Lara got some good news; she and David welcomed their son, Alfred, in May 2013. Bouncing back to her pre-baby body was a little harder than Lara expected, though.

“Once the baby was out,” the 30-year-old says, “I was like, ‘What the hell is going on?’ My arms don’t fit into my sweaters. I couldn’t get my jeans over my knees. I couldn’t find a bra that fitted me. I had body dysmorphia but the wrong way round.”

The model credits her personal trainer, James Duigan, and her diet as the forces behind her getting back into her Calvin Klein ad-worthy shape. See guys, even models have to work extra hard to get their pre-pregnancy bodies back!
