Benjamin Bratt Returning to Modern Family as Gloria's Ex-Husband

Get ready for Jay vs. Javier: Round II!

Modern Family executive producer Christopher Lloyd confirmed that Benjamin Bratt will reprise his role as Javier, Gloria’s ex-husband and Manny’s dead-beat dad, during Season 3.

When Javier spends a day with the entire Pritchett-Dunphy bunch at the racetrack, his uncomfortable presence ignites a new sense of fatherhood in Ed O’Neil’s character Jay Pritchett.

“[He] feels possessive of Manny for the first time and wonders what he’s allowed to do and what he isn’t as his stepdad,” Lloyd dished to Entertainment Weekly. “The backdrop [of the racetrack] becomes kind of a competition between Jay and Javier for Manny.”
