Modern Family Exclusive: Julie Bowen Talks Claire Dunphy's Political Career
Having her kids grow up and no longer rely on her anymore is hard for any mom, but it’s especially difficult for someone as type-A as Modern Family's Claire Dunphy (played by Julie Bowen).
Now that Modern Family is entering its third season, even the youngest children on the show are getting older and Haley Dunphy (Sarah Hyland) is nearly ready to leave the nest.
So when Wetpaint Entertainment caught up with Julie Bowen at LES GIRLS Celebrity Cabaret, we asked how the controlling mom was coping with her kids not needing her 24/7.
“Claire is just immersing herself in her political career now,” Bowen told Wetpaint Entertainment in an exclusive interview.
“She’s going to learn that it’s harder than she thinks and very different to being a housewife,” said the Emmy-winning actress, who was hosting the event with Seinfeld star Jason Alexander to benefit the National Breast Cancer Coalition Fund at the Avalon in Hollywood.
Speaking of Emmys (and kids!), Bowen went on to chat about how her real-life son broke her Emmy award within days of her bringing it home!
“I went on The Tonight Show and told Jay Leno about it and I immediately got a bunch of calls from friends saying they knew guy who could fix it,” she laughed.
We doubt a broken Emmy award is ever going to be one of Claire’s problems, but we’re sure there’s plenty of other valuables in the Dunphy household that Luke can get his hands on before the season is out.
