Here at Wetpaint Entertainment we like American Idol as much as the next reality TV addict, but we don't appreciate the way it sends a wrecking ball through the ratings of our other TV loves, like Modern Family.
Even though American Idol was significantly down in comparison to its past seasons, it still drew a huge audience — 21.6 million viewers — and other shows suffered. Modern Family Season 3, Episode 13: “Little Bo Bleep” was near a season low with 11.8 million viewers and a 5.0 in the most coveted adults 18-49 demographic, according to TV by the Numbers. Compared to the sitcom's mid-season premiere numbers (14 Million viewers and a 5.7 in demo), this week's performance wasn't so hot.
Of course, Modern Family remained one of the strongest non-Idol shows of the night, so this ratings drop shouldn't make you worried about the show’s future.
Still, it makes us sad to think about all the people who missed out out on Lily (Aubrey Anderson-Emmons) dropping the f-bomb in favor of yet another audition round. Get your priorities straight, people!
Modern Family airs Wednesdays at 9 pm ET/PT on ABC.
