Mom Gives Birth in Hospital Parking Lot and It’s All on Camera
We’re pretty sure this mom’s birth plan didn’t include labor in a hospital parking lot, but that’s exactly what happened. Even better, her husband was there to capture the entire blessed event on film.
According to Today, Kristen Dickerson was two weeks overdue when her water broke.
The couple rushed to the hospital and had it in their sights when Kristen told her husband that the baby was coming right now.
Husband Troy was already prepared to capture the action of Kristen’s labor — as he had with the couple’s two other sons — by strapping a GoPro camera to his head. He explained to Today that he turned the camera on in the car and then completely forgot about it.
It’s a good thing though! In the video, it catches the couple pulling up to the valet parking area, where Kristen immediately gets out of the car screaming. Troy urges her not to push yet, while hospital personnel quickly surround her. But after a few final screams, the cries of a healthy baby boy are heard a few seconds later.
Baby Truitt weighed in at a strapping 9 pounds, 13 ounces, and both mom and baby are reportedly happy and healthy. Kristen toldToday that it was “the easiest birth I’ve ever had.”
Kristen ironically works as a childbirth educator at the same hospital where she gave birth. She told Today that she probably wouldn’t share Truitt’s birth story with her students, at least not right away. But said she’s looking forward to sharing Truitt’s story with his two older brothers when the time is right. We don’t blame her!
