Teen Mom Accused of Killing Baby by Tossing Her Out a Window
A teen was arrested for allegedly killing her baby daughter by tossing the newborn out of a second-story window.
16-year-old Antonia Lopez had just given birth on Friday, September 30, when she supposedly went to fatal lengths to hide her pregnancy.
It’s believed the high schooler had gone into labor completely alone during the wee hours of the morning — since she disturbingly posted a distressed Facebook status at 3:40 a.m.
“Who can do me a huge favor and has a car?” she wrote with three crying-face emojis on the social networking site, the local ABC station reports.
Within the next half hour, police were called to Antonia’s Nebraska residency.
Although the exact timeline of the teenager’s actions is unknown, Antonia reportedly confessed to her mother she threw the infant out of a window.
The distressed would-be grandmother found the baby girl on the grass outside of the family’s apartment building and began administering CPR.
Her emergency measures weren’t enough, as the child was formally pronounced dead at a nearby hospital.
It seems the teen’s family had no idea she was expecting.
“It's caught me by surprise. I just can't believe it. Stunned,” her grandfather John Barcelona admits.
"She looked like she was well underweight more than anything else, I would’ve never dreamed that she was pregnant.”
Antonia was charged as an adult with felony child abuse resulting in death, which is classified as a homicide. She was accused of shoplifting cell phone cases last year.
