Even though Kate Middleton married Prince William and became the Duchess of Cambridge, she’s still just Kate to us. She’s still that beautiful woman who caught a prince’s eye and married into riches, yet remained unaffected by her sudden spike in wealth.
The addition of Kate to the British royal family has brought about quite a few modern ideals that remind us that even though she is miles above us on the social ladder, she still enjoys some good-old middle class stuff.
For example, even though she looks fabulous in her fashionable fascinators and impressive royal dresses, Kate still occasionally wears skinny jeans and riding boots. Her wedding was the first royal wedding to ever be announced on Twitter, and the birth of the royal heir to the throne will also be announced on Twitter. It was also just recently revealed that although the £1 million nursery for the newborn in Kensington Palace will surely be extravagant, the nursery in the smaller Nottingham Cottage in which Kate and William are staying while they wait for their palace apartment to be renovated will be modest and adorned with antiques.
According to UK Marie Claire, Kate Middleton was spotted in late April browsing for antiques at Mews Antique Emporium in the market town of Holt, during a girl’s shop-til-you-drop weekend in Norfolk. Their sources report that Kate’s recent antique purchases are all going toward her cottage nursery.
Why are we so obsessed with Kate’s mini obsession with antiques? Well, when was the last time you were in an antiques store? Yes, your grandma’s house counts. Those places have the best/weirdest/most shabby-chic stuff!
