Being a good mom doesn’t come cheap for supermodel and Project Runway host Heidi Klum.

The 39-year-old recently revealed her secret to getting her four kids — Leni, 8, Henry, 7, Johan, 6, and Lou, 3 — to eat healthy foods: She pays them a dollar a day!

'I've never really done a real diet,” the star told the Daily Mail. “My New Year's resolution for 2013 was to start every day with a fresh juice. We make an effort every morning — we peel pineapples, apples, lemons, bananas, kiwis, ginger, and berries and we make delicious smoothies.”

Sounds delicious to us, but Heidi says some of her kids don’t appreciate the smoothie goodness (no shocker there!).

“Some of my kids don’t love it so I decided I would pay them a dollar if they finish their drink,” she said. “All of the money goes into their piggy banks, they have collected a bunch of money since January 1. What’s good for them is good for me as well.”

Regarding bribing kids to eat their food, family expert Dr. Karyn Gordon tells ABC News, “If they’re picky eaters, I think it’s a great strategy to focus on the foods that they do like that are healthy for them, and at the same time making it non-negotiable that they do have to be eating other foods that are also healthy for them.”

In our experience, bribes (like dessert) can open up a world of food choices that kids would otherwise never consider. They won’t know they don't like something if they’ll never try it!

Gordon adds that parents should keep reintroducing food to children as they grow up. “The taste buds will change, I mean certain foods that I didn’t like as a child I love now.”

What about you? Would you ever bribe your kids to get them to eat healthy food?
