This jaw-dropping security video is a horrifying reality check for what kind of mayhem can happen in a matter of seconds. A woman had just gotten off a bus in New York City and was pushing her 8-month-old daughter in a stroller down the sidewalk when a rogue cab suddenly jumps the curb and slams into the stroller, sending it flying and pinning the child under the vehicle.
"I seen the lady with a stroller in that direction," witness Joshua Sarasua told WOAI. "And last second, I see a stroller hit the air. Thank god the baby was all right."
The video shows the grainy footage of the accident, and just when the car comes to a stop, slamming into the wall of a Dunkin Donuts, the mother regains her footing and dives beneath the car to retrieve her child. Only her bottom half is visible as she struggles to get her baby to safety.
The child is finally pulled out and both mother and child are cleared of major injuries. According to the news site, the child is now wearing an arm brace, but we’re all thankful and quite amazed that the damage wasn’t any worse.
Unfortunately, the 68-year-old cab driver was also rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. Witnesses say he was slumped over the wheel after he crashed, and he may have been unconscious before the accident.
