In a recent interview with Glamour magazine’s latino publication, Glam Bellaza Latina, Salma Hayek revealed her feelings about pregnancy, and they’re not all glowing.

The Mexican-American star gained 50 pounds before her daughter Valentina's birth in 2007, and she says adding much weight to her small frame made her feel “disfigured.”

The 46-year-old actress says that her pregnancy humbled her, and made her more forgiving of her flaws. "I gained so much weight, I got an opportunity to see myself completely disfigured in many different ways — for a very good reason — and I don't regret it for a second." She adds, "That's when I started appreciating my body. The things that I used to criticize, they were not that bad after all."

An actress whose gorgeous looks are definitely a huge part of her star power, Hayek acknowledges the pressure women are under today. "We've got to fight for our confidence every day in modern life because we live in a society that is very harsh to women. You have to be smart and successful and a good mother and beautiful and young and skinny forever."

Despite living with these impossible expectations, Hayek shows that she’s surprisingly down-to-earth. She explains her philosophy this way: "Success is happiness. If you've found the right companion for life, a good relationship with loved ones, if you are healthy — my God, you are immensely successful."

Married to Francois-Henri Pinault since 2009, Hayek is clearly living her own values, and reveals that she's happier now than she's ever been. About confronting the realities of aging, she says, "I'm a late bloomer; I always have been. A lot of women think that this is the [age] when you start getting depressed. To that I say, 'No, no, no, no, no!' I'm having the best time of my life."
