Mensa, the exclusive society for people with above average IQ, has just invited a toddler to join. Adam Kirby, a 2-year-old from Mitcham, south London, scored 141 on the Stanford-Binet IQ test, which is just four points below genius level, but still ten points higher than both U.S. President Barack Obama and British Prime Minister David Cameron.
The Daily Mail reports that Adam has long shown signs of a higher intelligence level than normal children his age, his parents say. He can spell 100 words, knows most of his times tables up to 10, knows the entire periodic table, can type on the computer, and potty trained himself after reading a book on the subject at just 1 year old!
“Adam’s abilities are outstanding and we’ve been actively developing his intelligence since he was 10 weeks old. We’re certainly delighted for him,” said Adam’s father Dean Kirby, an IT consultant.“ While most children are just learning to stand up or crawl, Adam was reading books. His development was just mind-blowingly quick.”
Adam is not officially a genius by Mensa’s standards, but his parents expect him to reach that point soon as his communication improves. As it stands, he still struggles to strong full sentences together. He can, however, count to more than 1,000 in English, up to 20 in Spanish and Japanese, and up to 10 in French, so that makes up for it!
