A new company is offering tattoos for kids, and parents love them. In one of the coolest new product launches we’ve seen in long time, Safety Tats temporarily brands kids with a list of of their known allergies.
Food allergies affect millions of children, and are a constant source of annoyance for kids (because who likes to be different?) and a huge source of stress for parents. It can be especially anxiety-inducing when kids are away from home -- summer camp, for example. Parents basically need to keep strangers aware of the allergies at all times, but how?
According to the website, Safety Tats are made with ‘proprietary material’ called Tateck. It’s sweatproof and waterproof, and the durable skin applique (let’s just call it a sticker) adheres to a child's arm. Parents can write the necessary allergy information right on the tat. Even better, the stickers last up to two weeks - or until parents remove it.
The website even offers some other options for using Safety Tats: playdates, sporting events, theme parks, and school field trips. If you’ve ever lost your kid at the zoo (uh, guilty...) you’ll see the usefulness.
While this product alone obviously won’t make the stress of food allergies go away, anything that alleviates a bit of anxiety for parents and makes having a food allergy slightly less daunting for kids -- and maybe even a little bit fun -- is a win-win in our book.
