Here’s one waitress who deserves an extra big tip, in our opinion.
New mom Jackie Johnson-Smith was out eating with her family, including her newborn baby boy, at Fong’s in Des Moines, Iowa. When she started to breastfeed her son in the restaurant, he got a bit fussy, so she moved from their booth to the family car.
While Jackie was in the car taking care of her son, her husband took care of the check. When she came back inside, she noticed something had been written on their receipt.
Bodi, the families’ server, decided to perform a random act of kindness, and left this moving message: “I took care of one of your pizzas, thanks for breastfeeding your baby.”
Jackie felt very emotional about Bodi’s good deed, so she decided to show a picture of the receipt and express her gratitude on her Facebook page, along with this message of her own:
“I have breastfed three children... I have breastfed them in countless of places both pleasant and unpleasant, discreetly and out in the open. I have gotten many looks and stares, but tonight erases any negativity I have ever received. I ate at Fongs for the first time tonight. Having a fussy baby I nursed him for awhile in the booth and eventually left the table early as to not disrupt the restaurant. The waitress gave this receipt to my husband. I was speechless and emotional. Although I don't need a pat on the back for feeding my child, it sure felt amazing. It is amazing how we women can make each other feel when we empower each other.”
Other folks clearly agree with Jackie’s sentiments, since this Facebook post has been shared more than 2,100 times. Way to go, Bodi and Fong’s. Talk about great service — next time we’re in Des Moines we’ll definitely look you up for some crab rangoon pizza!
