Kate Middleton is already admired by women around the world, and here’s something that will make many moms admire her even more: The Duchess of Cambridge reportedly went painkiller-free during the birth of the royal baby on July 22.

Prior to Prince George’s delivery, there were rumors that Kate would choose to have a natural birth, and it appears that she did indeed eschew painkillers during her entire 11-hour labor. The Mail newspaper (via Cosmopolitan UK) reports that the birth went off without a hitch and that hospital staff were impressed by Kate’s “calm demeanor.”

Kate was also rumored to be considering a hypnobirth, but there is no word on whether hypnotherapy was used as an aide while she was in labor.

There are of course many reasons that natural births are beneficial, although it is an extremely personal choice and a choice that only each mother can make for themselves. Then again, some moms-to-be don’t even have a choice in the matter!

Wherever you stand on the issue, we can all agree that the Duchess deserves some major props! We’re just glad that the delivery seems to have gone off so swimmingly, and that this special little baby is happy and healthy.
