George is already a pretty adorable name, but the nickname that’s likely to be given to the royal baby is even cuter: Georgie!
Kate Middleton and Prince William may be tucked away at the Middleton family home in Bucklebury following the baby’s birth on July 22, but proud grandpa Prince Charles opened up about his first grandson at a recent engagement.
At the Whitstable Oyster Festival in Kent, England on Monday, Prince Charles is said to have told locals that George is “a very good name,” according to Us Magazine. He also reportedly revealed that he thinks baby George would be called “Georgie in no time.” Awww, Georgie!
The adorable nickname is not new for the family: The royals are said to have affectionately referred to the late Prince George, Duke of Kent, as ‘Georgie.’
Prince Charles seems to be reveling in his new role as grandpa. Following George’s birth, he issued a statement saying he was “overjoyed” about the new addition to the family. “Grandparenthood is a unique moment in anyone’s life, as countless kind people have told me in recent months,” he said, “so I am enormously proud and happy to be a grandfather for the first time...”
So now we know what grandpa will be calling little George. Do you think William and Kate will call the little one ‘Georgie’ too?
