Drew Barrymore certainly has her hands full with her 10-month-old daughter Olive, but as far as she’s concerned, baby #2 will be on the way soon.
The 38-year-old Big Miracle actress recently spoke with People about her plans to expand her family, citing her own loneliness growing up an only child. “Some people love it and thrive on the independence, but I want my kids to have other kids around,” she says. “Maybe two kids so they can run around life together, roll their eyes at their parents together like Rusty and Audrey Griswold from [National Lampoon’s] Vacation. So however that’s going to come about, it’s gonna happen!”
We definitely understand, Drew. While one child can be argued as a handful for mom and dad, two kids almost entertain themselves! Besides, judging from how well Drew and her art coordinator husband Will Kopelman get along, we’re sure Olive will be a sweetheart and a protector to her little brother or sister.
Despite Drew’s well-known carefree personality, she also reveals that she has anxiety over her new parenting duties. “I love the person who said, ‘Parenting is like wearing your heart on the outside of your body,’” she says. “It’s the most beautiful, perfect analogy. I have anxieties about how much I’d like to get it right, making sure I provide her with an environment that’s safe, nurturing, and loving. And silly and free, also consistent and grounding.”
We can’t believe it’s only been 10 months for little Olive. We will definitely be keeping an eye on her to see whether she follows in her mom’s style footsteps! And as for baby #2, would it be wrong of us to hope for a boy named Martini? We kid, we kid.
