One always hopes their neighbors are going to be — well — neighborly, but one Fountain, Colorado, family has been faced with the fact that this isn't always the case.

Vincent and Heidi Giesegh claim that their neighbors have threatened legal action if they don’t remove a ramp in front of their home. The ramp is needed for their 16-year-old daughter, Kirsten, who has Cerebral Palsy.

The neighbors have reportedly claimed that the ramp will hurt the value of their home. The neighborhood, which is under construction, doesn't have an HOA, and the Gieseghs say that the city told them the installation of the ramp and the widening of their driveway for a special van were approved.

When 11 News went to the neighbor’s house to ask them about these claims, they told the station they had no comment.

"It's kind of irritating," Vincent told 11 News. "I mean we're trying to do our best to assist our daughter with her daily needs to get in and out of the house."

11 News reached out to the home’s builder, and the folks at the company say they have also received complaints from the neighbors. The Gieseghs have contacted the Rocky Mountain American Disability Center for assistance with the dispute.

What would you do if you were this family?
