It’s a story of an unlikely friendship, and it’s so darn precious.
WBIR-10 reports that Sherry Brandt, who lives in Kodak, Tennessee, owns a shar pei named Boo Ba. Sherry’s dog has never had pups of her own, but that didn’t keep her from helping out recently when she was needed.
Sherry says that Boo Ba’s always had a sweet temperament, but when Sherry’s daughter brought home a kitten that had been abandoned in a local grocery store’s parking lot, the sweet girl decided to become even more sweet, by treating the kitten like her own baby.
After a few weeks, the 3-year-old pooch began looking to her owner like she was lactating, which Sherry thought was a bit odd. "I thought, she couldn't have milk because she's never had puppies, she's never been bred." But indeed she did have milk, and began nursing the kitten, who the family named Ally.
Sherry reports that Boo Ba has decided to take her mothering duties seriously. In addition to feeding Ally, she also cleans her and even doles out some doggy discipline (in the form of barks) when needed. Sherry says she has no plans to separate the pair, saying, “She looks at me very serious when she nurses like this is so serious, I'm caring for my baby."
