There are so many unique proposal ideas out there, and it seems that as soon as you decide on how you’re gonna do it, you find on YouTube that it’s already been done. Singing waiters? Done. Use the dog? Done. Unmanned drone? We don’t even know what that is, but it’s been done.
One man went way out of his way — creatively and financially — to bring his soon-to-be bride a one-of–a-kind proposal experience. He wrote a book, had it published, had someone construct it into an actual bound book (he even splurged for a hardcover! Gasp!), and set his lady up for an indoor-voice-appropriate engagement.
According to the guy, known only by his Reddit handle ppaul9 (let’s just call him Paul), “I told her I wanted to wine and dine her a few weeks ago. I then rented some books from the library early that week with the due date on the proposal day. So we had to go drop the books off before dinner."
When the couple got to the library, Paul’s hired photographer went in first to hide the book, and then proceeded to look like an average Joe (or Jane), browsing the kids’ section. When Paul’s girlfriend found the book, he waited until she got to the right page, knelt down, and proposed. Here’s what she read:
A Tall Tale
There once was a gorilla that fell for a giraffe.
She surprised him by how much she could make him laugh.
The two, you see, were from different worlds.
Their first date, so nervous, he’d certainly hurl.
In spite of their differences, it was love at first sight.
His feelings grew quickly, his heart took to flight.
The gorilla, his life, unpolished and scattered.
Now refined and focused on those things that matter.
There were simply no words for how lucky he’d gotten.
Without her by his side life would surely be rotten.
It’s hard to believe just how happy they were.
He could not imagine even one day without her.
So he got on one knee and uttered the plea:
“My dearest giraffe, Will you marry me?”
He felt his heart beating right out of his chest.
He could do nothing but wait and hope she’d say YES.
When she finally answered, he could not stop grinning
Because he knew, in his heart, this was just the beginning!
We seriously can’t even handle this right now. We are grinning like idiots, but that must be a little window into how this lucky girl felt on that special day. Congratulations to the happy couple, and we wish you many happy returns (get it!?).
