Talk about the apple not falling far from the tree!
CBS Chicago reports that a mom recently gave birth to a baby girl in parking lot of an Illinois gas station. The newborn, whom her proud parents named Hannah Grace Mavlik, is a healthy little girl. In a strange coincidence, Hannah’s dad was also born in a parking lot.
Frank Malvik was born in the parking lot of the Louis Joliet Mall, 33 years earlier. His parents were on the way to the hospital, but much like Hannah, Frank did not want to wait. Hannah’s mom Erica, who had already given birth to two sons and experienced false labor, thought she had plenty of time when she started feeling labor pains with Hannah.
When her contractions rapidly increased in intensity, Erica had her mom take her to the hospital (dad Frank was at work). When Erica’s water broke just ten minutes away from home they stopped at a gas station in Oswego. Erica says, “By that time, it was too really too late, and she decided to join us in the car.” Erica’s mom performed the delivery, which took place just prior to the arrival of paramedics.
Although it was the couple’s third baby, it was their first girl. Time will tell if the Malvik family is able to break with tradition when it’s Hannah’s turn to give birth. Here’s hoping the third time will not be the same charm!
