Teachers who care will go a long way towards trying to get kids to see school in a positive light but Union Grove, Wisconsin, teachers Jordan Hein and Mitchell Brachmann went above and beyond by creating a music video to a One Direction song.
Mr. Hein, who teaches health and P.E., and Mr. Brachmann, who teaches science, created a huge sensation with last year’s video for “In My Class,” which was music set to Jason Derulo’s “In My Head.” They figured that, as the school year was starting up again, if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.
What’s funny is how the inspiration for this year’s video came about.
"I woke up and I think I was laughing and my wife was looking at me like I was going crazy or something," Mr. Hein told NBC’s Milwaukee affiliate TMJ4, adding that the goal was to inspire students.
He went on to add, "If we can get kids really excited for school and empower them to take control of their own education then that's going to make it a lot easier for us as teachers once we're in school."
This year, the parody is set to One Direction’s “What Makes You Beautiful," except now it's called "That's What Makes School Beautiful." We’ll give all you tween and teen girls a second to collect yourselves. As the saying goes, it takes a village, and many people, including other teachers and students, chipped in time and effort to make this a fairly smashing success.
Some of the lyrics are as follows:
You look so bored, don't know what for
Look so depressed when you walk through the door.
It might be tough to cheer you up.
We hope these words that we sing are enough.
Everyone else in our school can see it, everyone else but you…
While the video definitely made us smile, we have a message for Mr. Hein and Mr. Brachmann — don’t quit your day job, k guys? We need teachers like you!
