Rather than take some time off to eat bonbons and gloat about producing a male heir to the throne, a full feature spread in Vanity Fair reports how Kate Middleton has concentrated on starting her new family off on the road to health by eating sensibly.

From day one, VF says that the couple had help from Kate’s parents at her family home in Bucklebury, especially from mom Carole. A family friend shares that the couple was put up in their own private wing with several bedrooms and a private living room. The happy grandmum reportedly whipped up healthy fruit smoothies and other meals for the couple, and was able to provide 24/7 care for the bonnie prince, with assistance from Kate’s dad, Michael, while ensuring the couple’s privacy.

A source close to the royal family said that Kate even snacked sensibly post-baby, choosing her favorite muesli bars over fattening potato chips, or ‘crisps,’ as they are called across the pond.

Although the couple obviously had the backing of an entire nation’s resources at their disposal, we think it’s great that they decided to break with royal protocol and make their post-baby time a more private, family-only affair. A source close to the couple shared, “William said he didn’t want a nanny or nurse coming in and doing shifts. They were agreed on that. They wanted to do the early days themselves.”

We just hope Wills steps up on grocery duty, giving his wife a break from her trips to the supermarket!
