An Indianapolis mom proved that she is not somebody to be trifled with. When armed thieves attempted to carjack her by threatening her with a gun, she pulled out her own handgun and sent her would-be attackers running.
According to Fox 59, Kari Bird attends law school at night and works full-time during the day (we told you she was a total badass). She pulled into the driveway of her home around 11:30 p.m., when she was approached by a group of three or four young men. Kari told Fox 59 that they were smiling as they approached the car, then one of the men pulled out a gun and demanded that she give him her car keys.
Kari quickly realized that she would lose all of the law books and other belongings in her car if she handed those keys over, so she stealthily reached into the center console and pulled out her own handgun. Seeing the gun, Kari says the armed youth yelled, “Oh shit!” and that they all then scattered. Police are on the currently lookout for the group of boys, who are presumed to be between 14 and 17 years old.
Shaken but unharmed, Kari said that she was distressed that the boys were teens. “If these were my kids and they were out at 11:30 at night, terrorizing women, I would scare the life out of them.” It sounds like she did a pretty good job of that!
