Since her days playing the adorable ‘80s foster child Punky Brewster, Soleil Moon Frye has moved on from the limelight and delved head first into motherhood.

The 37-year-old child star is currently expecting her third child while caring for her daughters — Poet, 8, and Jagger, 6 — with TV producer husband Jason Goldberg, but while she seems to have her hands full, Soleil has also just published her second book, Let’s Get This Party Started.

Soleil’s first title, Happy Chaos, was a memoir explaining how she manages to find the beauty in everything, or, as she puts it, the happy in the chaos. In a new interview with Mini Magazine, she says, “It’s constant chaos and I like to call it ‘Happy Chaos’ because it is! It’s the joy in-between. I find joy in the painted handprints all over the place, the Sharpies on the wall, and the syrup everywhere.”

Well, she certainly has a leg up on us! Soleil’s mantra is with her every day of her life, though, as her second book explains. Let’s Get This Party Started is a craft book inspired by her kids, no doubt in conjunction with all of that Sharpie wall art and painted handprints.

“My girls and I love to put together parties, it’s our favorite thing to do,” Soleil says. “We’re always coming up with fun innovative themes and ideas to do together. We thought ‘wouldn’t it be fun to share it with everyone else?’”

Soleil says that each chapter has different ideas for party favors, themes, finger food, and more fun projects that are easy enough for adults and kids alike. She wanted her book to give parents the scoop on how to create an affordable but fun party of their own.

With her third baby on the way, Soleil explains how she’s preparing both the girls and herself for the new addition, although she says the girls are pretty well adjusted, naturally. “They are really aware of [my pregnancy] and I really don’t have to tell them much. They’re putting it upon themselves to kiss the belly and talk to the belly. They are total nurturers so they’re 100 percent behind it and excited. They are doing it by nature.”

While Soleil admits that she may not be ready with a nursery or linens just yet, it sounds like she’s mentally prepared for baby number three. She says, “I just can’t wait to those early days of holding a little baby, how scrumptious they are, how amazing they smell and just everything about it. I’m most excited about how excited the girls are and for them to interact and be big sisters.”

On the parenting side of things, the mother of two says her parenting style involves a lot of listening and communicating with her kids. “I try to listen to my kids and not talk at them, to really communicate with them and constantly get on their level, to be able to share, talk, and discuss and to hear them. To be a present parent and to listen to their needs, their fears, their dreams, and what they’re excited about, what they’re afraid of. Also let them know that parents make mistakes too.”

We don’t know about you, but little Punky has definitely grown into a true inspiration, showing us that just because you’re a mom, it doesn’t mean you have to give up everything you love. The secret to happiness is taking what you love to do and sharing it with the world! We could definitely use a little “Happy Chaos” in our lives, so we’re about to start there.
