It’s not often that we see little munchkins on the red carpet or tearing it up at awards shows, but Will Farrell’s three kids just made their debut at one of Hollywood’s biggest nights. Will’s children with actress Viveca Paulin (Magnus, 9; Mattias, 6; and 3-year-old Axel) stepped on stage with their famous father at the conclusion of the 2013 Emmy Awards, but they weren’t there to help present — Will was on daddy duty!
“Unfortunately, Helen Mirren and Maggie Smith dropped out at the last second and they called me literally 45 minutes ago,” Will announced. “I couldn’t find childcare, okay? We had a soccer game, there was a neighbor’s birthday party, a nut allergy, I didn’t have time to do my hair. It doesn’t matter, it’s great to be here.“ Will stuttered through excuses for why his sons were with him and why he appeared unshaven and disheveled.
As Will presented the best drama and best comedy awards, which closed out the lengthy three-hour awards show, his kids kept interrupting him. At one point, one of his boys asked to use the bathroom, to which Will snapped, “This is the Emmys. Don’t blow this for me.”
Will’s bit, planned or not, was probably the funniest of the night, and he and his brood were a big hit on Twitter.
"#Emmys Will Ferrell is Funny! See, I don't hate all white people! But he is the only one I like! Lol," said Damon Wayans. Even Piers Morgan loved the sketch, tweeting, "Love Will Ferrell's kids - most natural performers of the night. #Emmys"
It’s nice to see Will with his kids, whom we’ve barely seen since… ever. You can catch Will next in the highly-anticipated Anchorman 2, which is coming out in December 2013.
