The royal baby’s life has been accompanied by nods to Prince William’s late mother, Princess Diana, from the beginning, and the details that were just revealed by The Telegraph about Prince George Alexander Louis’s upcoming christening add to the pot.
Announced earlier today by Kensington Palace, the little prince’s christening will be held on October 23 at The Chapel Royal at St. James’s Palace. He will be christened by The Archbishop of Canterbury, Most Reverend Justin Welby, in a private service.
This is a break from the tradition of christening the British royal at Buckingham Palace where his father, grandfather, and great grandmother, the Queen of England, were all christened. While unconfirmed, it is thought that Prince William and Kate Middleton chose this location because it was here that Princess Diana’s body laid at rest for a week following her fatal car crash in 1997.
From the beginning, Diana has been present in the royal couple’s lives.William proposed to Kate with his mother’s large sapphire ring and they were married in the same place where Diana’s funeral was held.
This year, Kate chose to give birth in the Lindo Wing of St. Mary’s Hospital where Prince William was born to Diana back in 1982; Spencer, Diana’s surname, was a high bet when the name of the new royal baby was still unreleased; and Kate wore a polka dot dress when revealing Prince George the day after he was born, which may have been a nod to the polka dot dress Diana wore when she revealed Prince William.
We eagerly await the christening and more pics of baby George!
How about you? Are you excited to see more of Prince George or are you so over it?
