Wonder how celebrities seem to drop weight in the blink of an eye? Before you start searching for magic potions and spells, remember 1 pound of fat equals 3,500 calories, for everyone, even in Hollywood. So what’s the key to getting their banging bodies? In the January 14 issue, Us Weekly shared diet tips that work for celebrities and real people too! Here are some of the tactics we’ll be adding to our routine:

1. Snack on grapefruit.
Celebrity mom Bethenny Frankel trades junk food for smart snacks like grapefruit. According to the University of Florida, people who eat grapefruit regularly weigh almost 10 pounds less than those who don’t. If you can’t find us, we’ll be in the produce department!

2. Cancel out calories with fiber.
Studies show that each gram of fiber we eat cancels out 7 calories, so we’re jumping on the fiber train. Apparently Drew Barrymore’s beautiful post-baby body is a product of fiber-packed foods like the Glowing Green Smoothie from Kimberly Snyder that she drinks daily.

3. Eat more, lose more.
Now this is a diet trick that we can get behind. Dr. Barbara Rolls, author of The Ultimate Volumetrics Diet, suggests eating more high-volume, low-calorie foods like veggies. So fill up your plate with good-for-you foods and feel satisfied for hours.

4. Trade your morning coffee for hot water with lemon.
Stars like Kate Mara begin their day with a mini-cleanse by sipping hot water with lemon. The steamy beverage helps detoxify the liver, which is a fat-burning organ, Dietician Keri Glassman tells Us Weekly.

5. Banish booze.
Trading a daily glass of wine for a zero-calorie drink like iced tea can help you save approximately 700 calories a week — that’s like 10 pounds a year! We’re not sure about a zero-tolerance policy, but we’ll try to cut the wine down to once or twice a week.
