Gucci is more than gorgeous clothes and accessories — the company has also started the Chime for Change campaign. It’s mission: To raise funds and awareness for girls’ and women’s empowerment, focusing on three main areas — health, education, and justice.
The campaign is supported by some of our favorite celebrity moms who want to make sure that their daughters, and females of every age around the world, know that they have a voice.
Actresses like Halle Berry and Salma Hayek Pinault, as well as Run the World (Girls) singer Beyoncé, are speaking out on behalf of the campaign. In a video released on the Chime for Change website, Beyonce, who has always been an advocate for girl power, says she’s already talking up her 1-year-old daughter, Blue Ivy Carter.
“I’m telling my daughter everyday, ‘You know you can be president. You know it’s possible.’ And I know she has no idea why I’m saying that, but at one year old, I’m like, ‘You know you can be president,’” Beyoncé says with a laugh.
While the new mom knows that Blue might not understand, it’s never too early to tell a little girl that she’s valuable, worthy, and intelligent.
Along with Blue Ivy’s mom and those mentioned above, Chime for Change has many strong female role models on board, including Julia Roberts, Arianna Huffington, Alicia Keys, and Meryl Streep.
We’d be thrilled to have our own daughters looking up to any one of these passionate activists.
